Garnet
Deep red, warm and full of life. Our January birthstone jewelry brings the color of garnet to waterproof gold necklaces, rings, bracelets and earrings, made to celebrate the first month of the year every single day.
Garnet, the January Birthstone
January begins in the cold, but its birthstone burns warm. Garnet is a deep, glowing red, the color of pomegranate seeds and of embers that keep a fire alive through the longest nights. For centuries it has been the stone of those born at the very start of the year, a small spark of color to carry into twelve new months.
Our January birthstone jewelry captures that rich red on waterproof gold. Every piece is made to be worn every day, in the shower, at the gym and on every winter morning, so the color of your month is always with you.
The Story of Garnet
The name garnet comes from the Latin word for pomegranate, because the small red crystals reminded people of the fruit's shining seeds. It is one of the oldest stones in jewelry history. Garnet beads have been found in Egyptian burials thousands of years old, and Roman nobles carved their seals into it to mark letters and documents. Through the Middle Ages it was set into the crowns and rings of kings, and travelers carried it on long journeys, trusting it to bring them home safely.
Over time garnet became the stone of January, a month of beginnings. It was given to mark a new year, a new chapter or a promise kept, and it has stayed a symbol of loyalty between friends, partners and family for generations.
What Garnet Symbolizes
Garnet has always been linked with warmth, love and constancy. In old traditions it was believed to bring courage and protection, and to strengthen the bond between two people who would be apart for a while. Friends would exchange garnets before a separation as a promise to meet again.
Today, wearing the January birthstone is a way to keep that meaning close: a reminder of who you are, of where you come from and of the people who make you feel at home. For someone born in January, it is a quiet celebration of the month that marks a fresh start for everyone.
The Color of January
The classic January birthstone is a deep, wine-like red with a soft glow when the light catches it. It feels warm against gold and stands out beautifully on bare skin, whether you are wrapped in a winter sweater or sitting in the sun on holiday. It is a color that feels grown up and romantic, but never loud.
How to Wear Your January Birthstone
A dainty garnet-red pendant on a fine chain is the easiest way to start, on its own or layered with a simple gold choker. Small red huggies add a little color close to the face, perfect for every day. If you love to stack, slip a birthstone ring next to your everyday bands, or wear a birthstone bracelet next to your watch. And if your family has more than one January baby, a personalized piece with several stones lets you carry everyone together.
A Meaningful Gift for January Birthdays
January birthdays often get lost after the holidays. A piece of January birthstone jewelry is a way to make the day feel special again: a personal gift that says you thought about her, her month and her story. It is also a lovely way to mark a new year, a new job or the arrival of a baby born in January, and a thoughtful gift for a mom who wants her children's birthstones close to her heart.
